The ¿Cheating? Quiz

It’s true, I think about sex more than most teen boys. Some say I have too much testosterone. But it’s not always a personal story. Historic values and societal norms have always fascinated me. The traditional role of women and failed attempts to control our rise in power through micromanaging our sexuality, present fascinating political dynamics.

In my informal coaching with others I realized that not everyone has open or frank conversations about their own preferences, desires or expectations about sex within or outside of a marriage. Indeed in many cases, and particularly with women, we have not even explored our own ideals when it comes to what constitutes love and romance. I think it is important for everyone to first have a firm understanding of what it is that makes them happy and to know your own boundaries not only in the bedroom but in every facet of life.

When I was 12 my mother left a copy of “Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Sex, But Where Afraid to Ask” on my bed. And I’ve never been afraid to ask questions since. I have spent most of my adult life asking people personal and intimate questions.  And I have become keenly aware of some interesting correlations between sexual satisfaction and other factors including adolescent experiences or our ability to self-express our needs with a partner.

So when a net friend asked me one day a moral question about what constituted cheating inside of a marriage … I thought wouldn’t it be cool to have an online litmus test where you could go and get a definitive answer! But of course there are no written rules when it comes to love and marriage. Sure there are court rulings and legal statutes, but for the most part a couple’s definition on sexual fidelity is decidedly unique. So what I did instead was to ask everyone I knew their thoughts on the topic and then I designed a set of questions that could open up the conversation of personal expectations about fidelity within a relationship.

The result is the Cheating Quiz for Couples! A brief survey that asks you and your partner 18 questions that range from having lunch with a co-worker to inviting a third person into your bedroom.
