A Thanksgiving “Meditation”

It’s no surprise that the Parker dinner table is a bit unconventional, from the tofu turkey to the not-so-sweet bean cake treats.  Our guests often find themselves immersed — dare I say somewhat stunned — at the eclectic conversation and repeated call-back references that “the regular cast” find hysterical yet leaves the newcomer questioning our sanity.  All of it we understand is an acquired taste indeed.

This Thanksgiving has been a challenging time for me, with deeply rutted potholes causing unpredictable bumps in my journey.  The particulars of which I am sure will find their way into an upcoming blog, but for now suffice to say that it seemed this holiday would be marked for me by a heavy mental story.  That is why this bit of comic relief and precision timing to craft, plan, practice and execute a wonderful table-time turn the tables on my son sit-down-flash-mob was priceless.

Oh, and here’s that  covert video invitation we sent to Dan’s friend who was so kind to rock this number with us to accomplish our surprise.  To all of my family … I am deeply thankful.
